1. We’re taking advantage of #bandcampfriday to release this new song and donate all proceeds from the weekend (from this song or any other tracks/merch) to Hopeworks -
hopeworks.org/ . With a focus on education, technology, and entrepreneurship, Hopeworks provides a positive, healing atmosphere that propels young people to build strong futures and break the cycle of violence and poverty in Camden, New Jersey. On average, youth entering Hopeworks make less than $750 per year. When they leave Hopeworks, they are making over $37,000 per year, and over 89% of youth are still working in those jobs 12 months later. John and I have both volunteered with Hopeworks and are so inspired by the organization.
2. Like my shirt in the video?
youtu.be/fWE2hBGEfuk It's from Ortliebs. Ortliebs has long been like home to us and they are running their winter fundraising drive at the time of this release. Ortliebs booked us when we were just starting out. They ran good shows for fair pay and even let us take over the place to shoot our video for The Rest of the Sky. They need our help. Pop over to
www.instagram.com/ortliebsphilly/ to check out the new shirts and totes they have for sale.
3. John’s ‘just’ playing guitar in the video, but he’s the unsung hero of this song. What you’re not seeing are the hours he spent learning how to record at home so we could keep making. Learning how to produce beats on the Electribe. Having remote mixing sessions with Mark. Coordinating with Ryan to get this shit mastered. And above all, he’s just the one who keeps me going. I wrote this song when I was feeling stuck a few years ago. I had no idea how hard that feeling would come back around during the pandemic. John gets me out of being stuck and back into making and feeling like myself. And for that, I’m truly grateful.
